Close up of a Cherrybark Oak. The tree gets its name from the fact that the bark resembles the bark of the Cherry Tree.

Form of a mature Cherrybark Oak.  The contrasting light and dark coloration of the bark is apparent from a distance.

Galls appearing in the winter on the branches can help to identify this species.
