Quercus lyrata is a deciduous tree that has bark with vertical ridges.

Found in a swampy bottomland, this species has light grayish brown bark.

The acorn cup covers most of the nut.

Common leaf  shape,

the backside of the

leaf often has a whitish bloom. The  lobes are rounded and do not have  bristle tips.
