Sweet pitcher plant is closely related to mountain sweet pitcher plant (S. jonesii). It is one of our smaller, upright species and exhibits no white or translucent patches. The hood is usually pretty narrow (< 4 cm wide) and borne more or less horizontally over the pitcher opening. The hood in mountain sweet pitcher plant, in contrast, is usually ascending, giving individuals of that species a sort of "gaping" look.
