Site 5: Pittsboro and environs (Chatham County)
Your journeys have taken you back into the Piedmont, exploring along the Haw River and around Pittsboro. What species have you encountered? Study the trees closely, including the notes on their habitat and biology, and sort them by morphology. Six boxes have been provided; you may or may not need them all. Once you have sorted all specimens, complete a population character matrix for this site and add it to those from your previous sites. Finally, using Species Plantarum determine which species across all five sites are known to science and which ones are not.
